Found another copycatter of my site
by jean on Apr.26, 2006, under Website Updates
Let it be known and for the record that everything on my site is 100% original and is an authentic representation of who I am as a person and as an artist.
Since last summer, I’ve had a number of people do the unthinkable….from copying parts of my site to totally stealing the entire thing and calling it their own. What I don’t understand is how another so called artist can do such a thing? Some even take the photos of my work to use as theirs. That is puzzling to me as I would think their customers would expect them to deliver the same level of design and artistry as I am able to do.
This is the reason why I have tagged all my photos straight across the middle…yes, it is a bit unattractive and takes away from the overall clarity of the photo but sometimes, you have to do what you have to do to deter thief.
I’ve taken steps with several owners of websites that has copied my content and had them remove my content. For those who continue to violate my copyright, I had their sites shut down through their webhost. ![]()
Let me say that I used to get rather upset over the stealing being done with my work…but eventually, after the biggest case months ago where there is a lawsuit involved, I don’t let it bother me. I have done extensive research on this and know exactly what to do and what to say to webhosts to have accounts terminated. Using copyright info without permission is a direct violation of the terms of agreement for hosting accounts. This infringing can and will lead to termination without refund of said account.
When asked for advice for my situation, my wonderful webhost suggested I read up on DMCA as he too was sick of people infringing on my copyright. ![]()
One wonders why others would blatantly take my words, my photos, my style and personality and pretend like it is their own. Personally, I wouldn’t want to do business with so called artists who steal their ideas from someone else’s creativity.
I found this awesome site that seeks out copycatters. Check out Copyscape.com. I hope you will never get your creative works stolen, it’s an awful feeling to put in so much thought, effort, my heart and soul into creating something amazing to only have others take the easy road and steal it for their own use.
