Found another copycatter of my site

by on Apr.26, 2006, under Website Updates

Let it be known and for the record that everything on my site is 100% original and is an authentic representation of who I am as a person and as an artist.

Since last summer, I’ve had a number of people do the unthinkable….from copying parts of my site to totally stealing the entire thing and calling it their own. What I don’t understand is how another so called artist can do such a thing? Some even take the photos of my work to use as theirs. That is puzzling to me as I would think their customers would expect them to deliver the same level of design and artistry as I am able to do. :| This is the reason why I have tagged all my photos straight across the middle…yes, it is a bit unattractive and takes away from the overall clarity of the photo but sometimes, you have to do what you have to do to deter thief.

I’ve taken steps with several owners of websites that has copied my content and had them remove my content. For those who continue to violate my copyright, I had their sites shut down through their webhost. :|

Let me say that I used to get rather upset over the stealing being done with my work…but eventually, after the biggest case months ago where there is a lawsuit involved, I don’t let it bother me. I have done extensive research on this and know exactly what to do and what to say to webhosts to have accounts terminated. Using copyright info without permission is a direct violation of the terms of agreement for hosting accounts. This infringing can and will lead to termination without refund of said account.

When asked for advice for my situation, my wonderful webhost suggested I read up on DMCA as he too was sick of people infringing on my copyright. :)

One wonders why others would blatantly take my words, my photos, my style and personality and pretend like it is their own. Personally, I wouldn’t want to do business with so called artists who steal their ideas from someone else’s creativity.

I found this awesome site that seeks out copycatters. Check out Copyscape.com. I hope you will never get your creative works stolen, it’s an awful feeling to put in so much thought, effort, my heart and soul into creating something amazing to only have others take the easy road and steal it for their own use.

New brochures went out by mail earlier today

by on Apr.25, 2006, under Artist Updates, Marketing Ideas

If I happen to have your mailing address easily accessible, chances are you’ll get a new brochure in the mail very soon! I spent a few hours tonight getting my mailings prepared and then dropped them off at the post office. :D

I am excited to show these off, the more I see them, the more beautiful they look!

Let me say that I am having some computer issues, my desktop computer where I do most of my work is acting up. Not the first time and probably won’t be the last. :| Can’t start up windows due to missing or corrupt system file (windows\system32\config\system). As soon as I locate my windows xp cd, I’ll be able to ….I mean, my brother will be able to fix it…he’s my tech support. ;)

So if I am a bit delayed in responding to email, I apologize ahead of time. As soon as I am back up running on my desktop, I will answer all email in the order they are received. Right now I am trying to take care of some stuff on my laptop. If you really need something answered right away or would like to set up a free in-home demonstration, please call my cell phone. My contact info is located here. Thanks!

Finally no more need for anxiety over my new starscapes brochures!

by on Apr.24, 2006, under Artist Updates

I had another nightmare about my brochures the other night. I dreamed that they were not right again and I woke myself out of the dream. Let me tell you, letting go of the supposed safe, steady paycheck of a day job and jumping with both feet into my painting business is a bit scary. Well, as much as I try not to think of the anxious aspects of it all, apparently I am nervous because it’s coming out in my dreams. :|

BUT, I am happy to report that the fedex guy (cute too) just dropped off boxes of my new brochures!! It’s a mix set of emotions…excited that they arrived, then I was nervous to open them up…remembering the dreams I had of bad printing. Armed with my box cutter in hand, I took the lighter of the two boxes and even before I could cut the tape, I realized that they taped a brochure to the side of the box for identification…and OMG!!!!!!

THEY LOOK AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! If the rest of the brochure look as good as the front cover, I will be HAPPY!!!! So I cut open the box and took out my first bundle of 100 brochures. They are shrinkwrapped in packs of 100 so I have basically 30 packs within two boxes. :D

It’s ALL good…great in fact! I am sooooooooo relieved. I haven’t examined them all but that first pack looks fabulous, I would imagine the rest to be of the same quality! WOW!! I am blown away, this is definitely a brochure I can feel proud of and it is completely personalized.

Email me your mailing address and I’ll get one out to you in the mail, you have GOT to see this! Over a weeks of struggling with designing this brochure…and months of creating what I want in my head and then to finally bring that creative thought into fruition, it’s a wonderful feeling. :)

The final step of finding the right printer who were able to take what I did and turn it into reality, I love the folks at PrintingForLess.com! That’s the company I went with after searching the net for a printer who could and WOULD work with my publisher files! I had the mustang team and Hannah and Aaron really helped me out a lot! They were very customer friendly and answered all my questions and eased a lot of my concerns. Even though they were slightly more than some competitors, the extra was well worth the quality of customer service I received from them. Even minor hiccups with the first file upload was remedied with another upload. That was an issue with using various versions of publisher, not their fault at all but they worked with me and my files and got it done in a timely efficient manner. After seeing these brochures, I feel extremely comfortable with HIGHLY recommending them for anyone’s printing needs! I will definitely go with them again for my brochures once I run out and any other brochure projectss I have in the future!

If you want to give them a try, you can use this promotional code I received from them to get $25.00 off of your order! They print all sorts of stuff, give them a try!! USE RP1K6ZAG6 in the promotional box when checking out to get your $25 dollar discount on your next order from PrintingForLess.com.

Ahh…a big sigh of relief, maybe now I can stop having these awful dreams of my brochures printing out in every way but the right way. ;) Thanks printingforless.com for such a great job!

Here I am editing my post. I decided after I wrote this post that I would email them my unsolicited thank you/testimonial. They deserve to be recognized for their wonderful work:

Hi Team Mustang,

WOW WOW WOW!!!!!!!!!! In the past week of waiting for my brochures to arrive, I’d had two nightmares of my brochures printing out and folded every which way but the right way. Talk about anxiety! Being I was jumping with both feet into my business and having limited funds for marketing material, these brochures needed to be printed correctly the first time out.

The fedex guy just delivered my boxes of brochures! I am completely blown away by what a great job you all did, they look AMAZING!!!!!! I was nervous cutting into my box but then noticed a brochure was taped to the side of the box for identifcation and my initial reaction was WOW! They are exactly how I want them to look….inside, outside, folded properly…WHAT A TOTAL RELIEF and money well spent!!!!!!!!

I want to thank you again for the outstanding customer service you gave me. You helped eased my concerns by answering all of my questions with no high pressure selling tactic and you took time to really listen to what I needed done and to fix any minor issues with my publisher files. It’s people like you and companies like this that show their sincerity and genuineness in how much they care and value their customers and their business. Even though I am sure I’m not your biggest order, you took the time to make me feel like I was priority! Thank you so much for your attention to my printing needs! I will recommend you to everyone I know and you definitely will get my repeat business for sure! These brochures look phenomonial, thanks for taking my creative thoughts and turning them into a wonderful reality!!!!!
