The finished clouds mural on a textured ceiling
by jean on Apr.22, 2006, under Painting Jobs
Here are a couple of photos of my final clouds sky mural. On textured surfaces, it is really hard to tell the details of the clouds themselves. In fact, texture surfaces was a big distraction from the clouds themselves as you can see below. Click to enlarge. ![]()
This room has an entrance to the attic and on the door there, I was able to paint more detailed clouds. Below is a shot of those details. Again, click to enlarge!
I really like the way the colorwashing of the two blue tones went on this ceiling. The stars will be painted next week…so stay tuned for more photos! ![]()
Interesting insight while cleaning my brushes
by jean on Apr.21, 2006, under Artist Updates
Today I added the second tone of blue onto my day/night combo. One thing I do have to say is that texture ceilings/surfaces do hide the imperfections. I found that I didn’t have to blend as perfectly as with a flat surface. It looked good so far, tomorrow…well, later today, I’ll be putting in the 3rd layer of paint and that will be the white clouds!! This will add another dimension of depth to this mural. ![]()
So here is my revelation…there is something with me and water that brings on these miraculous insights. I was cleaning my brushes and a huge sea sponge I had used on the ceiling. I rinsed off all my brushes and then came the sponge. As I was cleaning the sponge by rubbing it under water on my hand, it occurred to me…
Am I cleaning the sponge? OR was the sponge cleaning me?
hmmm…
As I write this, I am still blown away and highly amused!
Pictures to come tomorrow!
A tiny bit of anxiety?
by jean on Apr.20, 2006, under Artist Updates
I had a dream last night that my much anticipated CosmicRooms.com starry brochures arrived in a huge box. It was delivered and waiting for me to take notice of them sitting in my backyard. The box must’ve been 3′x3′x3′ and surprisingly didn’t weight that much. ![]()
I ran to it with elation and quickly took it inside to open up the box! To my horror, the brochures were all wrong.
Some had color on the back but not the front for the background. Others had text that were white that blended into the missing background. Then still others were ribbed like it had ran through some kind of a scrapbook paper crinkler machine! Out of 3000, I didn’t see one brochure that looked the way they are suppose to, I was so upset!
I woke up just when I was calling them with worry that I’d have to wait another 3 weeks for them to reprint and reship my brochures. I tossed myself out of that dream, I could feel my anxiety building up as I was awakening.
These brochures has been an extra long project, years in the contemplation and over a week to finally put all I was thinking down onto a design. I’ve been tracking the progress of my delivery by fedex ground. I’m just a tad bit excited about it..
…but monday can’t come soon enough for me so I can have them in my hands and know that they are alright. I can’t wait to start handing them out!! I will post a recommendation to the printer I’d chosen to use once I see the final product. *deep breath* no worries, I know they will look awesome!
