New Contact Forms added…

Tuesday, May 30th, 2006

After days of configuration and designing a layout for how I wanted to do the new contact forms, it is finally done!! :D

There has been an increase in spam through what I presume to be from email capturing programs on the web. It has forced me to create contact forms on my site instead of just linking to my email address. You may still reach me at jean @ my domain here if you want to contact me directly via email instead of filling out my form.

However, the form is nicely laid out, if I do say so myself. ;) Try it out here.

I also reworked the way My Recommended Artist listing works. Now each person who signs up for a listing will get their own page. I hope to be adding more to this list soon so customers in other areas can locate an artist to paint their ceiling full of stars!! :D

I will be adding more pages as time allows as I am still in the midst of my faux finish wall project. The homeowner and I have discussed the issue with the walls and have come to a decision of doing 3 of the 4 walls! The long wall will be bare but the walls with closet (which is the one I have already done), the door, and window will all be faux finished! I think it would look nice…although we could have easily flipped it to do the long wall and leave the others bare. I think the entire room done may be too much of a good thing. :P

Off to home depot, I need more brushes!

Colorwashing Faux Finish…

Monday, May 29th, 2006

I skipped updated a few days but I continued with the walls I was working on.

Before

Let’s back track a bit here. I have primed the walls with coats of primer since the original walls were a medium blue color.

After 2 coats of primer

Then I did 1 coat of basecoat in “swiss coffee” in Behr Satin Finish. Swiss Coffee looks like cream with a splash of coffee but essentially, it looks off white :)

After basecoat

I then began my 2 tone wash on one wall. What was interesting is that I set out to do a subtle wash, here’s the sample board I worked on the night prior:

But what ended up happening was a bit more dramatic…in a good way! :D I just let my creativity go since the homeowner gave me a lot of freedom to do what I feel is the best thing. Here’s the wall I finished:

2 tone wash

As you can see, it is not as subtle as my sample board however, it has a lot more detail and looks nice! It was commented by someone who is a pro in the faux finish world that what I did has a marble feel, looks like unpolished stone! All I know is that I was being creative and this was what came out of me. ;) I love art!

Colorwashing Faux Finish, Day 1

Friday, May 26th, 2006

Earlier today I started my new Faux Finish project!  Two coats of primer on the walls of this bedroom that had medium blue walls. :|  Tomorrow I am thinking of doing the base coat.  The color of the base coat is white color called “swiss coffee” by Behr.  Hopefully with two coats of primer, I’ll only need one coat of paint!  But I should have more than enough for two coats if need be.

I need a shoulder massage after all this is done. ;)
