I was on an overnight trip with one of my nieces aboard the USS Constellation this weekend at the Baltimore Inner Harbor. During our hour long night watch up on the main deck, I was very much admiring the city skyline with all the beautiful lights of the city! Even though it was a VERY cold night, the chill in the air did not detract from the beautiful view of the nightlights surrounding us, it looked amazing from that perspective!
Suddenly upon looking up further, I realized what was totally missing…………….STARS! In the brightly lit city, only about a handful of stars were visible. I LOVE the city but if the stars were visible too, it would be ideal. ![]()
So I started doing a rough sketch on a scrap piece of paper I had with me and a pen of the structures all around. Every city has its own distinctive landmarks and Baltimore is no different! Much like the Mountain Valley Fantasy theme I have, the Baltimore CityScape would be stars on the ceiling with some trailing down upon all four walls of the room to outline the building structures of the skyline! This isn’t official yet but as I always say “how hard could it be?”. ![]()
I will be working on this new theme for the next few weeks so be on the lookout for something NEW by Cosmic Rooms! I’m also thinking that if there was an empty wall without furniture, if I outline the skyline down further, it would give a sense of looking out from a giant size window, as if you had a penthouse on top of a tall building in the city. Perhaps even a new smaller versions, much like the Stargazing Skylites…but it would be a….Stargazing Window CityScape of Charm City! This of course can only be on walls with a light color background so the stars can’t be seen during day time or when room lights are on.
My mind is already spinning with ideas, let me get to work on this! I’m inspired!
BTW, the USS Constellation is going through a restoration process and needs all the help it can get to achieve its goals. If you would like to make a donation to them or partake in their tours, overnight educational excursion for schools and other organizations, and purchase items from their gift shops, please visit them at the USS Constellation Museum located at the heart of the Inner Harbor in Downtown Baltimore….it’s the big ship near the World Trade Center and the paddle boats!

This was definitely a different experience. Their staff was very knowledgeble and friendly and the kids ended up learning some stuff about the ship and history. I walked away with a new idea to pursue and I can’t wait to work on it! ![]()
