Marble wall finally finished…continued

by on Jun.06, 2006, under Painting Jobs

These are the final pics I took at the completion of the project.  I may have more pics to add, am planning on going back over there during the daylight hours to capture some photos of the room under natural light conditions. ;)

Only two pics in natural light:

More trim details….the white glossy trim really make the wall POP!  The original color of the trim was a tan color.  I highly recommend glossy ultra pure white for the trim in any home for that polished look.

Looks like real marble doesn’t it?  And the white trim really sets it off under ambient lighting…

marble walls look even more real under ambient lighting

it looks perfect!!

And that completes our fascinating tour of my new marble wall project!  Homeowner is happy and I am very pleased as well with my painting of the new marble walled room! :)

Aahhhh …a sigh of relief as the faux finish project is finally at its completion!  :D  It’s been a long few weeks of working here and there on this one.

Colorwashing Faux Finish…

by on May.29, 2006, under Painting Jobs

I skipped updated a few days but I continued with the walls I was working on.

Before

Let’s back track a bit here. I have primed the walls with coats of primer since the original walls were a medium blue color.

After 2 coats of primer

Then I did 1 coat of basecoat in “swiss coffee” in Behr Satin Finish. Swiss Coffee looks like cream with a splash of coffee but essentially, it looks off white :)

After basecoat

I then began my 2 tone wash on one wall. What was interesting is that I set out to do a subtle wash, here’s the sample board I worked on the night prior:

But what ended up happening was a bit more dramatic…in a good way! :D I just let my creativity go since the homeowner gave me a lot of freedom to do what I feel is the best thing. Here’s the wall I finished:

2 tone wash

As you can see, it is not as subtle as my sample board however, it has a lot more detail and looks nice! It was commented by someone who is a pro in the faux finish world that what I did has a marble feel, looks like unpolished stone! All I know is that I was being creative and this was what came out of me. ;) I love art!
